From the President:

I have been disappointed not to meet Paddington Bear’s relatives; not so disappointed not to have eaten guinea pig (Peru’s national delicacy) yet.

Best wishes from Peru,

Pam

Christmas Raffle

CBC has a tradition of present giving at Christmas. This year we would like to direct this to Barnardos. If you wish to help, please bring a donation towards their Christmas hampers – presents for teenage boys aged 14-18 (e.g. vouchers for movies or sports stores, t-shirts, food such as Christmas puddings & more standard items such as jam, cereal, Milo...). We need the donations by Friday 14th December. Please place under our Christmas tree, which will be put up on Monday 3rd December.

Christmas raffle tickets are available just inside the Barry Turner room, $2 each, or 3 for $5, to benefit CBC and Barnardos.

Wednesday Night Bridge – Christmas Party

For those who have participated in Wednesday Night Bridge during the year, we invite everyone to a Christmas Party from 6pm on 5 December in lieu of a bridge talk and Pizza.

Members are asked to bring a small plate of food to share, and there will be a lucky door prize. No need to book.

The Wednesday Night Bridge Committee, on behalf of the Wednesday night players, would also like to thank Richard Hills for his time and insights in his talks during the year. Hopefully we can restart them in the New Year.

Community Announcements

Do you have a DORO Easyphone (or similar)?

Terri Henderson is wanting to have a look at the phone prior to purchasing one. Please contact her on 0410 882 321 if you have one she could look at.

Position Vacant

A position will soon become available at the club to assist with the dealing of boards. This is a paid job and is extremely attractive to later year high school and university students with some spare time (about 3 to 5 hours) on alternate Saturdays.

The position would suit someone with an eye for detail, good concentration skills, reasonable maths, and computer literacy skills.

If any of our members have children or grandchildren in need of pocket money while avoiding the McDonalds/Delicatessen option, they can contact Ian Robinson (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Looking for your lost glasses? Keys?

Have you misplaced your reading glasses at the Club?

We have a box full of little bits of lost property – with many pairs of glasses looking for their owners. We even have some sets of keys!

Please speak with Emily or Kerry during the half hour before/after sessions, or to your director if outside office hours, and we can give you access to the lost property box to see if you can find your long lost items.

NEW: Thursday sessions 2019

From Thursday 7th February there will be a new format for Thursday sessions.

There will be a short lesson from 9.30-9.50, followed by duplicate play. There will be a charge for this lesson, of $5 for CBC members and $6 for non- members. This is similar to the format of Master the Basics (on Wednesday mornings.)

These Thursday lessons will be different topics, at a more advanced level than the Monday evening and Friday morning lessons.

There will be a supervisor for duplicate play commencing at 10am, but it will no longer be the teacher but a volunteer who will help the players and assist the Director.

Monday evening and Friday morning supervised players are welcome to attend the Thursday lesson, and/or the subsequent play session.
