Funeral for Peter Andersson
Peter Andersson’s funeral will be held on Wednesday October 16, at 1:30pm at St Philip’s Anglican Church, 24 McPherson Street, O’Connor.
Wednesday day time players wishing to attend Peter’s funeral can elect to leave the duplicate session early to make the 1.30pm service.
Afternoon tea will be held at the Church Hall following the service. St Philip’s will provide tea & coffee, but we would appreciate members bringing a small plate of food to share for the afternoon tea.
- Tuesday & Thursday nights, for 2 weeks: 15, 17, 22, & 24th October at 7:30pm
- Gateway Event: Designed for those who do not normally play evening competitions
- Special consideration for players with less than 300MP
- Green Masterpoints
- Pair with best 3 of 4 scores is the winner. One substitute allowed.
- Pre-entry is desirable, on the Sign Up sheet or enter online.
Melbourne Cup Luncheon - Tuesday 5 November
The Melbourne Cup Bridge and Lunch is just around the corner! See the Melbourne Cup Event page for all the activities planned - morning tea, bridge, delicious lunch, and watching the race.
There are a number of ways you can enjoy the day! Come to play and stay on for lunch, to play only, or just come along to join in the lunch and watch the race.
Please sign up online or on the BT Room notice board for lunch by midday Friday 1 November, ensuring to add your dietary requirements. No sign up is needed for those just wanting to play bridge. If your regular partner is not able to play, please contact the Managers who can try to organise a partner for you.
To help make the event special, we would love any donations of treats for morning tea and of course Spring flowers to brighten up the room!

These lessons are suitable for a wide range of players - from players who are starting out in the Club's duplicate session, all the way up to experienced evening competition players.

Sunday 27th October – Afternoon Bridge at the Mercure
Trumps Bridge Centre have invited CBC players to join their holiday attendees at the Sunday afternoon bridge session at the Canberra Mercure on the 27th October at 2pm clinic and 3pm Welcome Pairs, at a special combined price of $12/person.
In response to last week’s Lighter Moments on New Zealand accents, George Riszko replied telling us that:
Some time ago he attended a friend’s party to celebrate the construction of their new wooden deck on their house. He then rushed off to a bridge match at the club.
He sat down at the table of 3 women, and made the harmless social remark that he was lucky to be there as he had just come from a deck-warming party.
Given George's New Zealand origins, at least one of the women envisaged a very different sort of party...
