Tim Mather is participating in the swimming leg of the Sri Chinmoy Triple Triathalon to be held in Canberra on 17th November. If members would like to support the Bridge Club’s charity, Barnardos, by sponsoring him for a win, place, or kilometres swum it would be greatly appreciated. Tim will swim 1.5kms in Lake Ginnanderra, 3.5kms in Lake Burley Griffin and 1.2kms in Lake Tuggeranong.

New book in library – “Advanced Bridge – Contested Auctions”

Southern Highlands Bridge Club – fundraising for clubhouse through Book
Southern Highlands Bridge Club are raising funds to build their own clubhouse. To help in this Rakesh Kumar has written two 44-page booklets, entitled Better Partnership Bridge.
Booklet 1 (improving club players) covers concepts that are especially relevant to players wanting to consolidate their grasp of the fundamentals of partnership bidding and defence. It also includes some bidding conventions and ideas that could be of interest to intermediate players.
Booklet 2 (intermediate club players) covers a number of topics that are a little more complex. In particular, it focuses on more effective approaches to competitive and slam bidding, as well as more effective defence.
