President's Message
This week I thought I'd take the opportunity to tell you all a little bit about myself. Although I have been in and out of this club for nearly 30 years there are still people I don't yet know.
I moved to Canberra with my family in the late 1990's to take over a small animal veterinary practice in Belconnen. One of the first things I did on arrival was to join the Canberra Bridge Club and enrol in the beginners' lessons. That was one of my best decisions.
Over the years I have tried to give back to bridge in various ways. I served on the committee in the 2000's, did a couple of stints as secretary, helped with the 2008 ANC and worked on the Summer Festival. I have also been lucky enough to represent the ACT on our Women's Team on a couple of occasions.
Most recently, I was President of BFACT. BFACT is our state body and represents all our local clubs to the ABF. I would like to thank Cathy NIchols, for stepping up and acting as President until BFACT's AGM on 24 November.
I am very excited about my new role. This is a vibrant club that takes pride in nurturing its players from beginners to social to competitive players and everyone in between. We are one of the few clubs in Australia that can cater for players across the full spectrum and we should be justly proud of that. I look forward to working with you all so please feel free to come up and say hello and let's have a great year.
- Wendy
