Thank you to everyone who is participating in Mentoring in May.  This is a long held club tradition that dates back many years.  It helps to grow greater confidence with your game. Please all members have extra patience at the table when there is more explanation than you might be used to. This is a growing experience for us all and bridge is the winner!  Thanks again to Anne Fleming for managing the program. To mark the occasion Brian Thorp has penned a limerick.

The Bridge Mentee
There once was a player so keen,.
Playing bridge she could always be seen.
But after each bid that she made
And each card that she played
Her partner would roar, "WHAT’S THAT MEAN?”

Editorial - not sure if the player was the mentee or the mentor.... No roaring at CBC tables please.

Thanks to all who nominated for the Australian Wide Knockouts on RealBridge. On Tuesday 30 May CBC members who nominated in the Under 750s will compete on RealBridge to determine who represents the Club at the Australian Wide Knockouts from June to December. All other entrants will form CBC teams in the relevant section, with the Open section to be determined after the Barry Turner Teams concludes. Team payments will be made by the Club on the basis that any winnings will flow back to the Club.

Our weekly sessions are almost the same as last week.

Club Charity Nominations

Each year the Committee considers nominations from members for a new charity for the next financial year. The Club has raised over $1,400 for its current charity, Print Handicapped Radio of the ACT (Radio 1RPH), plus money from Tim's current walk. Over the past few years, the Club has supported Beyond Blue, Barnardos Australia and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Proceeds from fundraising events and the produce table all go towards supporting the charity. If you have a favourite charity that you would like to have considered, please email the Secretary by 31 May.

Grapevine Email Discontinuation

We are advised that members with @grapevine.com.au, @grapevine.net.au and @homemail.com.au email addresses - services will cease from 31 May 2023. We would appreciate early advice on an alternative address from members. Many thanks to those who have already done so.

Lighter Moments

Prison is just one word to you, but for some people, it’s a whole sentence.

I’m trying to organize a hide and seek tournament, but good players are really hard to find.

I got over my addiction to chocolate, marshmallows, and nuts. I won’t lie, it was a rocky road.

Patient to surgeon “Can I sew up my wound”. Surgeon’s response “Suture yourself “.

I’ve started telling everyone about the benefits of eating dried grapes. It’s all about raisin awareness.
