President's Message

We are now roughly halfway through the winter months, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind all members: please stay home if you are feeling unwell. Many of our members live with chronic health conditions, and your consideration helps us keep everyone safe. Mask wearing is still encouraged. If you arrive at the club without a mask and feel the need to protect yourself, please see Elizabeth, we have a small supply available for emergencies. Your cooperation on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome home to Alexis and Jade, who have just returned from their adventure in Italy. Although the Under-21 Team missed a top-8 finish, they qualified for the Mixed B Final and placed 31st overall - an amazing achievement, especially given the competition included teams across several age divisions (U21, U26, U31, and Mixed).
The team had the opportunity to soak up the rich history and atmosphere of Salsomaggiore, competing in stunning old-style Italian venues -- an unforgettable experience. (I’ve also heard that Alexis and Jade played in all four of the team’s wins!)
Well done ladies, and thank you again to our members for your ongoing support of our Youth players.

A request to please NOT park in the disabled ramp which is clearly marked in yellow paint.  We have members on walkers who cannot get through to get to their cars.Thank you.

- Mary

Lighter Moments

Apologies, it seems that the link for the Lighter Moments did not work last week. Below is that article again, hopefully the story and NOT the link will be funny this time.

Our 3rd set of beginners class for 2025 is starting on Wednesday 13th August and Friday 15th August. Just in time to welcome our new batch of beginners, we have updated the noticeboard near the dealing room. This noticeboard is dedicated to all students of bridge, whether they are beginners, fundamental students, supervised players or current members wishing to upgrade their skills. The structure of our new education agenda is so great that I enthusiastically urge you all to take a look. Our beginner's program is comprehensive and the teachers are the best so feel free to brag about this to all those who are yet to discover our obsession.

Have a great week everyone!

Elizabeth
