President's Message

Thank you to everyone who helped on Wednesday to decorate the Barry Turner room and erect the giving tree. Our helpers were: Pam Crichton, Jennifer and Brett Yeats, Nick Vonthethoff, David and Kathleen Kenny, Barbara Bialowas, Jenny Bergin.

If you are able to support Barnados in their charity please bring your unwrapped presents and place under the Christmas tree in the next couple of weeks.

This weekend the Gala National Open Pairs are taking place in Brisbane we have two teams participating, we wish them the best of luck.

When playing bridge in a competitive situation please keep in mind that bridge is a game (albeit a most competitive one) and should be played in good spirit. Please support more inexperienced players as they grow in the sport. It may be that in years to come they will be better players than you, and the better you treat them now, the more likely they will be nice to you in the future.

From the Committee:

There has been a fantastic response from members to the request for your views on what could be done to enhance the building and Club.  The Committee is currently considering the responses received and will advise members in early January regarding what will be proposed for members to consider.

Barnados Christmas Giving Tree Appeal

The CBC has a tradition of present giving at Christmas. This year, we will reprise our support of Barnados.

Barnados is an Australian charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in need.

If you wish to support them please bring gifts for the giving tree such as:

  • food such as Christmas puddings, chocolates and other non-perishables including tinned food, jam and Milo

Alternatively if you wish to donate cash, the club will collect the donations and buy movie vouchers. Please bring your donations to the office.

Count Before You Play

Monthly Eclectic Explanation:

The Club counts only the first 28 days of the month to calculate the monthly eclectic. Therefore if you play 5 times in a month and your best result is on the fifth session it won't be included. If you play four times but miss the first session of the month and the last session falls outside of the first 28 days then only 3 sessions will be used towards your eclectic's result.

Lighter Moments
