Messages from the Committee
The results of the member survey from October 2023 re the refreshment of the clubrooms have been completed.
It was another huge task extracting all of the information from the spreadsheet, and we would like to thank Jenny Bergin for undertaking this tedious task at a very busy time for her. Thanks again to the membership for your input into this project.
We will continue to keep you informed on what the Committee intends to do with maintaining, updating & enhancing your building.
The Committee will advise members about the proposed action to be taken about the building refreshment for any final comment.
myABF Progress Update
The club is getting closer to running duplicate sessions via myABF so it is important that you have money in your myABF account.
You will also need to keep money in your CBCpay account during the transition but rest assured that any funds left in your CBCpay account will be transferred over in due course.
Reminder to Real Bridge players, if you require help setting up your account, please call Chris Lokan on 0434 566 451.
Easter Raffles
As you might have seen there's a wonderful display of Easter eggs on the table by the main door. Thank you to Barbara Bialowas for the beautifully presented prizes and Jenny Bergin for the lovely tree decoration.
Please buy a raffle ticket in support as part of the proceeds will go to our charity - Integra Service Dogs Australia.
The tickets are one for $2 and three for $5. The Prizes will be drawn on 27 March.
Wednesday Night Pizzas
The next Wednesday night pizza will be on 27th March 2024. For those unfamiliar with the activity, the Wednesday night pizzas provide the opportunity for social interaction while enjoying a pizza sampling. It provides a great opportunity to talk to and socialise with your fellow players, which is not always the case when engaged in playing bridge. The pizzas will be available from 6:30, which provides ample time to enjoy your pizzas before supervised and walk-in play begins.
The cost of the pizzas is a nominal $5 payable on the day. This entitles you to half a pizza. A variety of toppings will be available and participants can pick and choose. Vegan pizzas can be made available for those who want them. No drinks are provided, so if you want liquid refreshment you will need to bring your own.
Attendance is voluntary and those wishing to partake should place their name on a list on the noticeboard or contact Jon Pike directly. His email is
Mystery Deposit
We have still not identified a cash deposit made at the Tuggeranong Westpac branch on Jan 31.
The deposit cannot be credited to your CBCPay account unless we know who made the deposit.
Refresher Course Feedback
You may be aware that Barb Toohey and Steve Geddes have been running refresher courses on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. I have now attended the first three of these courses and found them to be very advantageous. I work on the premise that there is always something to be learned from these sort of courses and even going right back to basics can remind you of something you may have forgotten or reveal bad habits that you may have fallen into. Barb and Steve are effective and generous teachers. I have certainly benefited from the courses over the last two weeks and will be attending as many of the future ones as possible.

The Bridge Buddy Program
If you have been playing for less than 2 years and would find it helpful to seek bridge advice from a more experienced player, we can assist. You may have a bridge issue that is puzzling you; you might want help analysing your results; maybe you are learning a new convention and would like to discuss what it involves. If you are interested, please contact Morag Lokan at
