Community Rewards Program
Every year the Canberra Bridge Club (CBC) benefits from the Southern Cross Club Community Rewards Program.
As the Canberra Bridge Club is a participant in in the Canberra Southern Cross Club Community Rewards Program, you can nominate the Canberra Bridge Club to receive Community Rewards by linking your Southern Cross Club membership number to the Canberra Bridge Club.
The Southern Cross Club will then pay an equivalent of 7.5 cents for every dollar you spend on food and beverages at Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison, Yacht Club and Snapper & Co. to the Canberra Bridge Club - and you still receive any Canberra Southern Cross Club rewards points due to your membership.
To assist the bridge club to maximise this opportunity we urge all bridge club members with Southern Cross Club membership to link their memberships of the two organisations.
You can link your Southern Cross Club membership to the CBC online by accessing
- https://www.cscc.com.au/rewards/ . Click on Community, then select Canberra Bridge Club to fill in the form electronically.
- Alternatively you may fill in a form at a Southern Cross club or a hard copy form available in the CBC office.
By completing this form, you are nominating the Canberra Bridge Club to receive 7.5% of your spend on food and beverages at the Canberra Southern Cross Club. 7.5% is calculated on purchases at Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison and Yacht Club when a Southern Cross Club member uses their membership card at the point of purchase. (Purchases at on the MV Southern Cross, Snapper, or at functions are not included).
The Committee thanks CBC members for their ongoing support of this program.

Canberra Bridge Club welcomes the following new and returning member to the club:

Friends returning to bridge?
Do you know people who are interested in returning to bridge after a break? Or social bridge players who lack the confidence to join a club duplicate? The club offers two options aimed at those groups.
Foundations course
This course is aimed at those players who know the basic mechanics of bridge. For example, they might be returning to bridge after a long gap. The course will help players to consolidate their bidding and play as well as introducing duplicate play.
Supervised Bridge
This is aimed at those who play a social game of bridge but feel that they are not yet ready to play a full duplicate. This program aims to help players to build the capability and confidence to play a standard duplicate.
Supervised play runs twice a week throughout the year. Each session includes a short talk, and then a chance to play bridge.

Lighter Moments
A disappointed salesman of Coca-Cola returned from his assignment to Saudi Arabia.
A friend asked, "Why weren't you successful with the Saudis?"
The salesman explained, "When I got posted, I was very confident that I would make a good sales pitch.
But I had a problem. I didn't know how to speak Arabic. So I planned to convey the message through three posters.
First poster : A man lying in the hot desert sand totally exhausted and fainting.
Second poster : The man is drinking Coca-Cola.
Third poster : Our man is now totally refreshed.
And then these posters were pasted all over the place.
"Terrific! That should have worked!" said the friend.
"The hell it should have!" said the salesman.
"No one told me they read from right to left!"
Do you have a noticeboard in your work place or know a community noticeboard that we could advertise? If you can help please come by the office and collect a poster promoting bridge and learning bridge through the Canberra Bridge Club.
Have a great weekend everyone!
