GNOT Qualifier - May to August
The Australian Bridge Federation runs an annual Grand National Open Teams event, bringing in teams from all over Australia to a RealBridge weekend playoff in September and a National grand final in November.
The Bridge Federation of the ACT will conduct an ACT final (Gala Pairs) on Saturday 6 September with an Open and Restricted (less than 300MPs) Pairs event.
The Canberra Bridge Club will hold a series of two session qualifying events between May 1 and 31 August in each regular duplicate and RealBridge session, details of which are shown below.
These events will be held concurrently with the normal duplicate. There is no entry fee and no need to pre -enter. Gold Masterpoints will be awarded for each session and the winner pair of each event will be invited to participate in the relevant ACT final with free entry. There is no obligation to accept the invitation.
All sessions at the CBC (including RealBridge sessions) have a two week GNOT Qualifier scheduled between 1 May and 31 August.

Notes:
- F2F sessions with both A and B Grade sections (Tues, Wed, Thurs am) have Open and Restricted (qualifies to BFACT Provincial event ) sections
- Thurs am session has an Open section for the Butler and another for the A grade Matchpoint Pairs (as well as B grade section)
- Friday morning has a B grade section only
- All other F2F sections and the four RB sections have Open GNOT qualifiers
Technical Notes:
- The qualifiers are timed to avoid a clash with three week red point competitions already scheduled
- The four larger sessions have their GNOT qualifiers closest to the Gala pairs on 8 Sept
- The week of Coff’s harbour was avoided because of potential player loss and directing problems
- Gold masterpoints can be awarded on the day of contest with a grading varies depending on session grade. There are no Masterpoint awarded for the two session event aggregation. When setting up each section in Compscore the following masterpoint settings are used
- Open : Grade weight 5 Extra weighting 1 - for all sessions without a Grade B section
- Grade A: Grade weight 5 Extra weighting 1
- Grade B: Grade weight 5 Extra weighting .65
- For Friday Morning session – use Grade B settings
- For Thursday Morning session – use Grade A for the Butler and Grade B for the Matchpoint pairs sections
